The state-of-the-art terminal building was designed by architects Leach Rhodes Walker with a capacity to serve 2.3 million passengers and 50,000 tonnes of freight each year. 7,000 square metres of Corus Kalzip standing seam roofing system was used for the complex and unusual ridge-furrow arrangement for the main terminal building roof.

Robin Hood Airport commenced commercial operation on 28 April 2005. On the site of the former Royal Air Force base sits a brand new terminal, and one of the UK's longest runways.

The airport is located 6 miles southeast of Doncaster and eighteen miles from Sheffield. A population of more than six million potential customers can access the airport within a 60 minute drive.

Its objective is to offer more choice to the regions we serve, and by doing this it aim to become the airport of choice for passengers east of the Pennines.

On entering the airport complex the taxi rank is situated directly in front of the airport terminal as is the drop off point.

Robin Hood Airport has over 2,500 car parking spaces, all situated directly in front of the terminal building. Car parking spaces can be pre-booked online which gives you a cost saving over the standard parking rates on site.
